Originally a pizza oven in inventor Johnnie Tate's Hackney back garden, Yard Sale Pizza evolved. These days, the outfit is delighting Londoners with stone cooked pizzas spread over two sites in Waltham Forest (Leytonstone and Walthamstow) and another two further afield. 

With Macaulay Culkin attending one of its opening events and musician Loyle Carner lately working on a pizza recipe, it's even gained something of a celebrity following. From the vegan Herb Your Enthusiasm, topped with grilled artichokes, kalamata olives, red onions and salsa verde, to the Holy Pepperoni created using London-based Cobble Lane pepperoni, offerings span.

• Deeney's Cafe

Any Scots wishing a small taste of home can visit Deeney's Cafe in Leyton. Although there are no deep fried Mars bars in Waltham Forest, this location features the hangover-tackling haggis toastie. Indeed, that is the Scottish delicacy scattered into sourdough slices and cooked with mustard, rocket, caramelised onion, and melting cheddar. 

They have even called it the Macbeth; it is quite battle-ready. This treat also comes from Deeney's Saturday street food cart at Broadway Market in London Fields.

Waltham Forest is not one to miss the ride as the vegan train just picks more speed in the capital. One of the capital's most well-known vegan street food outlets is scheduled to open Walthamstow as its first permanent venue. 

SpiceBox will establish its first restaurant elsewhere on Hoe Street at the end of January, but right now it is having a pop-up at organic site Hornbeam Cafe. The menu includes SpiceBox's award-winning tarka dhal, a cooler, creamier cashew and coconut korma with seasonal vegetables, and a hot and spicy jackfruit jalfrezi with green peppers and onions.
